Volunteers of ANGELS of McGregor
ANGELS was formed in 2004 to coordinate transportation for seniors. Today volunteers also handle chores, home safety checks, friendly visits, foot care clinics, the Voice of the ANGELS newsletter and Operation Christmas.
Our history
What began as a handful of neighbors offering rides has grown into a year-round circle of volunteer support across Aitkin County.
2004
ANGELS — Area Neighbors Giving Elderly Live-in Services — is founded in McGregor to coordinate volunteer rides for seniors who could no longer drive themselves.
Growing years
Requests for help widen beyond rides. Volunteers begin taking on yardwork, snow removal and small home repairs so neighbors can stay in their own homes.
Home safety & visiting
In-home assessments and friendly visiting are added, pairing volunteers with neighbors who are homebound, recovering or feeling isolated.
Health & community programs
Regular foot care clinics, Alzheimer's support groups and educational programs bring seniors together and connect families with resources.
Today
Volunteers keep the work going year-round, along with the Voice of the ANGELS newsletter and Operation Christmas for area seniors.
